Internship Program
Preparing Students for a Career in Engineering
Through the Colman Engineering Internship Program, participants get hands-on, real-world experience from a team that cares about raising up the next generation of engineers. This immersive approach equips interns with the tools, knowledge, and confidence they’ll need as they launch their site/civil, environmental, and water resources engineering careers.
Hands-On Experience from a Team That Cares
We aim to get interns up-and-running with essential drafting skills quickly, so they can start doing actual work. The sooner they complete our self-paced online training program, the sooner they can work on real projects—helping our engineers with tasks like adding drawing details, creating basemaps, and working on concept layouts.
After establishing a strong foundation, interns can expand into other areas of interest, such as helping with environmental projects, surveying, and more. In this way, we can help craft an internship experience around each person’s unique skill set and career goals.
Use industry-standard tools like AutoCAD and Civil 3D, and immediately apply those skills to real projects.
Participate in the engineering design and plan production process, gaining valuable insights into how projects evolve from concept to completion.
Assist with diverse civil engineering projects that directly impact communities.
Work in a collaborative office setting, observing and engaging with clients, partners, and regulatory agencies.
Identify your strengths and understand how to contribute effectively as part of a team.

During my time at Colman Engineering, I had the opportunity to work on a variety of impactful projects, from site surveys to stormwater management designs.

Not only was everyone kind and helpful, they were flexible with my schedule, and I got the chance to see the application of some of the things I was learning in school.
