Shenandoah Valley Academy Campus Improvements

Modernizing a historic campus to support growth, accessibility, and resilience

The Shenandoah Valley Academy (SVA) opened its doors in 1908. In order to keep pace with state requirements and increasing student population demands in its more-than-century of operation, SVA sought campus improvements.

Colman Engineering developed site and utility plans for the renovation and expansion project involving the demolition of the pool and pool house; a new addition to Twomley Hall for music and auditory support spaces; a new entry, façade, expanded parking, and security gates.

Colman Engineering also designed porches, sidewalks, and related stormwater management systems and drainage plans that will enable SVA’s infrastructure to thrive throughout the academy’s lifetime.

Renovations are expected to increase campus resilience and accessibility for current and future academy staff and students.
